We have been working on a launch date for a while now, but experience has taught us that even the smallest things can take a lot of time. But we know we will launch the game on Kickstarter in April!
Some may ask why it takes so much time to make and launch a game on Kickstarter, and the best answer is because we haven’t done it before! The only thing that seems to take the amount of time as expected is the video, but that is something our designer has done a lot of before.
We are far from having the amount of followers we want, so we still need to try to market the game some more. This is actually what takes the most time, so we will just have to focus of launching the game at some point!
Watch out for more updates coming soon!
Designing games are all about problem solving. You constantly make up problems that needs to be solved!
I like to show some typically problems that needed to be solved during the design of World Dumbination. If you don’t know anything of the game please take a quick peak at the main web pages to get an overview of the game!
I haven’t met very big problems on this game, and most issues have been solved in just an hour or two. But I have other games lying around that I needs quite the effort to solve a problem that has stopped the whole design process. All problems should be solvable, but it just takes a lot of time sometimes.
World Dumbination is a fun strategy board game for 2 to 5 players. In the game you play as the 5 world leaders left after aliens have “rescued” the most intelligent people from our planet, to inhabit a new a better world they have floating around in a galaxy far far away.
The first inspiration for the game was world leaders’ acting like children arguing in a sandpit, and that is the idea for the front cover.
Our planet has for decades been monitored by alien species. Worried by the latest events, they’re sending their enormous spaceships to earth to save us from our self-inflicted fate. As they’ve already made a copy of our planet, they collect the smartest people to inhabit this new world, leaving the “less gifted” behind. Most of the world leaders get on board, but some didn’t make the cut – for more or less obvious reasons.
In World Dumbination you play as these five leaders in a quest for world domination!
World Dumbination won the prize for the “Least anticipated War game for 2019” on Boardgamegeek! Well, this is just a bit of fake news since it off course isn’t a prize for that! But we are happy we were far away from winning in that category. As a bit of a surprise to us, the game got nominated in the War game category. World Dumbination has a structure and plays a bit like a war game, and you fight your opponents with bombs and military units. But since it is a totally unserious and funny game, it is more of a parody for a war game than an actual war game! The hardcore war gamers wouldn’t touch this game even with gloves on, and we would probably be banned from Boardgamegeek winning that category with World Dumbination! 😀 If it had been a category for the most anticipated Warty (war & party!) game, World Dumbination had won that category easily! 😛
Just now we are working with making prototypes to send out to reviews, a Kickstarter date will be set soon after the games are sent out.
The theme is fun, often players start laughing when they look at their newly drawn cards, and you wouldn’t find another war game containing Fake news or Alien groupies! But what about the game mechanics?
World Dumbination is an asymmetric strategy game where you use cards and movement on a board to get the most victory points.
Players have different starting points. It is not only the start position on the map that is different. The resource income players start with and the nation’s First goals are also different. This of course balances itself out after some rounds. It makes the game more fun to play more times since you can play different nations that demands some different strategies.
I didn’t want players to sit with too expensive cards in the beginning when their resource income is low. So by making Level 1 and Level 2 cards the game has a natural build up. Level 1 cards are mostly political and fun, and Level 2 cards are more military actions. Players move on to Level 2 cards after doing their First goal.
The Peace track was in good use the latest game here at Muzak Games. North Korea and Turkey went all in to be peaceful nations, disarming 4 Nuclear bombs and ending the game with World peace! That and good luck with the Dumbness cards made North Korea win the game just before Turkey. North Korea started with the “Be most peaceful” First goal, and followed up with winning the Nobel Peace Prize, so it was probably well deserved 😉 Russia also wanted to disarm a bomb in the end, but since that card had higher number than the other Nuclear bomb cards, the game ended before Russia got anything done!
The work with the Kickstarter are going forward, but time to do a bit of marketing are also needed, so we are not able to set a launch date yet. More information will come shortly.
World Dumbination is an asymmetric war game with a twist. Each player has different starting points, as you can choose to play the leader of the USA, Venezuela, Turkey, Russia – or, of course, North Korea! 🙂
The game board is a map of the world where players build military bases and move units. Cards are used for a whole range of actions, for yourself and your opponents. So in short the game is all about combining the best card actions with clever movement on the board!
Now you have a chance to win a copy of the World Dumbination board game!

The Christmas spirit has reached the world of dumbination. Merry Christmas and have a happy new year!
The work with the Kickstarter presentation for World Dumbination will be take up most of the time here at Muzak Games. We are aiming to launch on Kickstarter late February or early March. We will have more information on that early 2019!
There is many leaders that could be in this game, but these are the lucky ones!
President Donald Trump
– United States of America.
Trump is the character that inspired most of the political cards in the game. He has got a giant ego, but is not too popular. Trump’s first goal is either to build an amazing wall on the Mexican border, or win the next election, maybe with some help from his friends!
President Nicolas Maduro
Maduro sits on the world’s largest oil resources, but with him as a leader his nation is close to bankruptcy. A leader who suggest that his people should breed rabbits so they don’t starve, just have to take part in this game! Maduro’s first goal in is merely to remain in power, or make his crypto oil currency work.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan – Turkey.
When Erdoğan tore the theory of evolution from school books in Turkey, he easily qualified to be one of the characters in this game. His first goal is to become a successful dictator, or “join” the European Union!
President Vladimir Putin
Putin sits on his rocking horse, not completely happy with the circumstances. His first goal is to be back in the U.S.S.R, or have the best national hacker group!
Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un – North Korea.
The leader of North Korea has quite the split personality. His first goal is either to make North Korea a fearsome Nuclear Power, or to be the most peaceful leader!
